Working in Hong Kong — read the terms first

Role, contract, accommodation and fees should be obvious before you sign. If something is still unclear, ask us directly.

Roles

Common job types

01

Care worker (residential homes)

Imported care worker scheme

Daily care: feeding, lifting and transfer, hygiene, companionship. Shift work in most roles.

02

Construction trades

Construction imported labour

By trade and project need, with the qualifications and contract terms that apply.

03

Public light bus / coach driver

Transport imported labour

Licensing and employment conditions apply.

04

F&B, retail, logistics roles

Enhanced Supplementary Labour Scheme

Technician level or below, subject to the local recruitment outcome.

05

Professional roles

Admission of Mainland Talents

For professionals with skills, knowledge or experience not readily available locally.

Requirements differ by role — the job description governs.

Before you apply

Basic requirements

  • 18 or over, physically able to do the work
  • The language ability the role requires (Cantonese, Mandarin or English)
  • Relevant experience or qualifications; some trades need a valid licence
  • Valid travel document and ability to meet scheme and immigration requirements

Applicants differ by scheme: several schemes are employer-led, so a job seeker does not apply directly.

Stay safe

Four things to settle before signing

1. Fees
Every fee should come with a written explanation and a receipt. If someone asks for money before naming the job, check with us first.
2. Contract
Wages, hours, rest days, accommodation and deductions — go through each item and ask when unclear.
3. Documents
Keep your passport and ID yourself. Do not hand them to anyone to "hold".
4. Is the job real?
Ask for the job description and the employer's details. A vague offer is not worth a signature.
